We’re looking for

The books we’re waiting for.

For fiction, we’re drawn to novels with grit, honesty, and emotional truth. We want characters who feel real, whose choices carry consequences, and stories that immerse us in lives beyond our own. We’re particularly interested in fiction that explores the complexities of being human without offering easy answers.

For nonfiction, we’re interested in original ideas and fresh perspectives that deepen our understanding of ourselves, one another, and the world we inhabit. Authors should bring relevant knowledge or experience to their subject and write with clarity, credibility, and authority.

We publish only a small number of titles each year, which means we are highly selective about the manuscripts we take on. When we commit to a book, we give it considerable time, care, and attention — and we look for authors who are equally committed to bringing their work into the world.

Publication is only the beginning of a book’s journey, and authors should be prepared to play an active role in promoting their work. We expect our authors to maintain an online presence and to be willing to engage with readers, participate in interviews or events, and seek opportunities to introduce their book to a wider audience.

Satori Books does not charge authors for editing, design, production, or publication. We do not currently offer advances; our authors receive royalties on every copy sold.

If you’re passionate about your manuscript and feel called to share it with us, we’d love to hear from you. Please read our Submission Guidelines below before sending us your work.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please read these carefully before submitting your work.

We strongly encourage you to seek informed, independent feedback on your work before submitting. This might come from an experienced editor or writing coach, a creative writing class or workshop, or trusted readers who understand your genre.

Please don’t submit a first draft. Revise your manuscript thoroughly — and then keep revising it. When you can read it aloud, start to finish, without repeatedly stumbling or wanting to stop and fix things, you’re getting close.

Share your work with test readers and revisit your manuscript with their feedback in mind. Then run another round of test reading — including new readers who haven’t seen it before. If your mom thinks your book is brilliant, that’s lovely, but it isn’t enough. Identify your ideal reader, find readers beyond your friends and family, and cast the net wide.

Take criticism seriously. Your readers’ experience on the page is real. If several readers don’t “get it,” lose interest in the same place, or fail to finish, pay attention. Your job is to understand why — and where the energy drops. People may say they were too busy — perhaps — but when a book truly has someone in its grip, it’s remarkable how chores on a to-do list can get parked until later.

One of the strongest signals that you’re ready is when readers ask if they can share your book with someone else. That’s what you want to hear. When people begin recommending your work without being asked, you may just be ready to send it our way.

HOW TO SUBMIT

YOUR SUBMISSION PACKAGE:

Please include each of the following with your submission.

1. Cover Letter (in the body of your email)

At the top of your email, please include your book’s Genre and Word Count for quick reference.

For Example

Genre: Nonfiction—psychology
Word Count: 85,000 words

Your letter is your chance to introduce yourself and your project. Tell us about yourself, your background and writing experience, and why you’re passionate about your manuscript. Don’t oversell your work — your writing will speak for itself. Just be authentic and let us glimpse your world. Please also include your public-facing social media accounts through which promote your writing, if you have these already in place.

A WORD OF CAUTION :

Please don’t use AI to write your cover letter for you. We’re not against using AI as a tool to help refine your work, but here, we want to meet you. Write to us in your own voice — personality is far more interesting than perfection.

2. The first 10,000 words of your manuscript

✦ PDF only, 1.5 line spacing

✦ Attach to your email

3. Synopsis

We know synopsis-writing can feel like torture, so we won’t make this harder than it needs to be. Here’s what we’d like:

✦ Send us a PDF, 1.5 line spacing

✦ Provide a clear, engaging overview of your story (fiction) or content (nonfiction).

✦ There’s no strict word count — just explain your book clearly. As a rough guide, aim for at least 500 words.

✦ Please don’t send a chapter-by-chapter breakdown; we’d rather dive into the manuscript than wade through ten pages of outline.

✦ For fiction, don’t spoil the ending. Give us just enough to whet our appetite and show what lies ahead.

All set?

Mark the subject line of your email as:

SUBMISSION: Your Name – “YOUR BOOK’S TITLE”

Then send it to:

submissions@satoribooks.com

We look forward to reading your work.
