THE SATORI STORY
The celestine legacy
In 1993, author and therapist James Redfield self-published his first novel, The Celestine Prophecy, under the name Satori. Together with his wife, Salle, he took to the road with a trunk full of books, placing the novel directly into the hands of booksellers and readers.
Within six months, more than 100,000 copies were in print. The novel became a number-one international bestseller and spent more than three years on The New York Times bestseller list.
More than three decades later, James has returned to the Satori name as founder of Satori Books—continuing the independent spirit behind the novel’s original publication.
our philosophy
We don’t publish to fill a list. We choose books selectively, seeking writing that captivates us from the beginning and gives us something we haven’t encountered before—an original idea, an unexpected perspective, or an insight that changes the way we see something.
A manuscript doesn’t need to fit a formula, but it does need to bring something meaningful to the conversation—and have the potential to become an exceptional book. We believe good publishing means recognizing that potential, then giving the project the time, care, and devotion it deserves.
our commitment
When we choose a book, we do so because we believe in it wholeheartedly. From that point forward, we move it through editing, design, production, and launch, consulting its author throughout the process.
We never charge our authors for our services, and we never rush a book into print before we believe it is ready.
With every book we publish, we set an intention for it to reach the readers who will value it, trusting that the universe will help carry it into the hands of those it is meant to find.
